  Jinxx’s Big BDSM Adventure

Jinxx Mason, a self-sufficient, capable woman, is a litigation paralegal in a prestigious Wall Street law firm. Jinxx has lived alone since her disappointing marriage and recently experimented with some light BDSM play as a trainee sub at Le Club Eastside–Manhattan. She made the long-distance acquaintance of a California Dom on Facebook, and their relationship blossomed through texts, emails and telephone calls.

Troy Barnett is a construction engineer working overseas projects as well as a dangerous side line of recon into several Middle Eastern countries to gain current intel on nuclear plant construction for the government. It’s dangerous clandestine work done under the cover of his legitimate jobs as a civilian consultant on actual reconstruction projects.

Troy and Jinxx meet in person at the ultra-luxurious BDSM Black Dahlia Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. All goes well, and both realize they had not made a mistake falling in love on Facebook. Can love conquer all and can their long-distance relationship survive the miles as well as Troy’s classified side line?

  Prologue

Mason apartment, Greenwich Village Section of New York, New York, Wednesday morning, November 11, 2015

Jinxx Mason rolled over in her big, comfortably rumpled bed and opened one eye. She had awakened to the bing of a message on her cell phone before her alarm clock rang. It was 6:58 a.m. That had been happening every morning lately. Before she picked up the phone, she said a quick prayer. Today would have been her mother’s sixty-fifth birthday if she hadn’t died the year before of breast cancer that had gone undetected until it was too late. Jinxx felt a moment of grief and then reached for the phone. Her mother would not have wanted her to be sad even for a minute, so she had to honor that.

Jinxx smiled when she saw the text message from Troy. She had met Troy Barnett when he instant-messaged her on Facebook over a month ago. She usually didn’t respond to that type of message from strange men, but there had just been something about Troy. He looked a little rough around the edges but handsome in the picture on his Facebook page.

He had been persistent and said she had a captivating smile. That had made her smile, captivating or not. After he’d messaged her three times, she finally deigned to say hello to him. That had started a daily correspondence that she had to admit made every day exciting. Unfortunately, or maybe not unfortunately, he lived in Los Angeles and she was in New York. A good, safe distance separated them and, what the hell? It was fun to have someone to flirt with safely—no commitment, no danger of an intimate relationship upsetting her comfortable applecart.

The contact with a handsome man made her feel alive an
d like she had someone in her life. Her brief and unsatisfying marriage had left her very cautious about men, and she usually preferred to do without rather than be disappointed. Her vibrator, Herbie, never disappointed or hurt her, unlike her ex-husband and a couple of guys she had dated over the years.

Jinxx, or Jacinta Mason, was forty years old and the senior litigation paralegal at the prestigious Wall Street law firm of Brampton Hamilton. She made great money and got to travel with her boss, Jim Hamilton, to assist with big trials all over the country and sometimes overseas. It was a dream job. She had worked for Jim for over fifteen years, and she was close friends with his wife, Trish.

Good morning, beautiful. I was thinking about you. It’s 4 a.m. here, and I’m about to go out for a run before I head to the job site. Have a great day and think of me, sexy. Barnett

She picked up her stylus and started to answer. I just rolled over and found your message. It’s 7 a.m. here. I can’t get used to this time difference. Have a good run. TTUL. Xoxox

  * * * *

Troy Barnett tied his running shoes and grabbed a hooded sweatshirt from the rack near the door of his Los Angeles high-rise apartment in Harbor City.

That girl always brightened his day when he pictured her wide smile. That was what he had noticed on Facebook. She had a great smile and a curvy body that got his motor running—that and the fact that she wrote BDSM erotic romances on the side. He had checked out her Facebook fan page, and the book covers displayed there had caught his interest. He had to laugh at that. He wasn’t really sure what erotic romance was, but he knew he probably wanted some.

Troy had been trapped in a funk ever since the death of Peggy, his wife of fifteen years, from ovarian cancer. She had been his first love, and her death had left him ravaged and pessimistic, bringing his dour Scottish personality to the surface. Jinxx had been the first bright spot in his life in a long time, and he found himself looking forward to their messages and e-mails every morning and night. He felt like a kid in a candy store for the first time in years.

He was trying to keep his enthusiasm under control. He didn’t want to scare her off by being overzealous or too needy. He had to keep reminding himself that he was a stranger to her although she did not feel like a stranger to him. He had already developed some strong romantic feelings for Jinx despite the fact that they had not yet met. How weird is that?

  * * * *

Jinxx bounced out of bed and headed to her bathroom. These morning messages from Troy always started her day with a little thrill, despite the three-hour time difference. She knew a lot about him since they had been messaging and e-mailing for a month, but there were still some gaps in her knowledge. Sometimes his one-word responses left her with more questions than answers. She knew he was a construction engineer and had worked on projects all over the world. He said he was forty-five, unmarried, and didn’t currently have a girlfriend.

Jinxx was amazed at the intimate connection they had made in such a short time. She had told Troy private things she had not even told her best friends. Maybe it was the anonymity of the written word on a cell phone or computer screen. They occasionally spoke on the phone, and she had to admit that his deep, rough voice with a pronounced Glasgow accent sent a thrill right to her clit.

But Troy seemed to really enjoy the written word and especially the long, detailed e-mails he sent her during the night when she was already asleep. The photos she had seen of him on Facebook showed a man who was not too tall, but not too short, either. He was good-looking but not too handsome. He had dark hair with what appeared to be reddish highlights and some gray at the temples. What made him stand out was his amazing body, with ripped abs and muscular arms and legs. It was obvious that he worked out and was in top shape.

Troy had spotted her photo on one of the Dominant/submissive Facebook pages that her best friend Elaine Walker had nagged her to join, and had decided to initiate contact. She knew that he was a member of the Le Club in L.A. That was one interest they shared, since she had recently joined the Le Club Eastside–Manhattan as a trainee sub at Ellie’s instigation and invitation. Ellie was in a D/s relationship with a Dom from the club, and had gotten Jinxx interested in trying the lifestyle for herself. It just seemed so sexy and exciting.

Jinxx had played there with several Doms, but had not made a permanent connection. A few of them had brought her to climax on the various pieces of equipment during training sessions, but she had not had sex with any of them. Jinx was still a little hesitant to jump into the lifestyle whole hog. She wanted to check it out a little more before she made any commitments beyond her membership.

Jinxx dropped her turquoise silk nightshirt on the floor of the bathroom. She liked to treat herself to sexy, silky lingerie, and nightshirts were her favorite. She adjusted the water temperature and pressure and stepped into the shower. Jinxx knew she was attractive in an unconventional way with her glossy red hair and green eyes.

She did have a wide, beautiful smile, but she also knew she was no classic beauty. She was tall for a woman, and had an ample figure with what she considered to be a big butt. Her breasts were still high and round and caught the eyes of many New York construction workers. She got more than her fair share of whistles from the guys on the building sites as she walked around the Financial District. Jinxx ran her soapy, slick hands over her body, enjoying the tart scent of her tangerine-ginger bath gel. She washed her shoulder-length red hair, slathered on a good conditioner, and rinsed before she shut off the water and toweled down.

Jinxx would have to hustle if she was going to be to work on time. At least she didn’t have to think about what to wear. Her selection of conservative, dark-colored but well-tailored business suits and collection of brightly colored high-heeled shoes made getting dressed easy. Everything went with everything. She just had to grab and go. She dried her silky hair and put it up in her signature messy bun with tendrils that insisted on escaping from the clip. She put on the minimal makeup she wore during the week, grabbed a travel mug of coffee and two oatmeal cookies, her coat and briefcase, and ran out the door, headed for the subway entrance down the street.

The weather was not yet bitterly cold, but was definitely fall crisp. The sun was shining brightly. It was a gorgeous day, and her early-morning message from Troy had definitely put a smile on her face. As she grabbed a seat on the subway for the trip to Wall Street, she had no idea that the radiant smile on her face attracted more than a little bit of attention from the stoic and sometimes unobservant New Yorkers on her train. She just felt happy and it radiated from her entire person.

  Chapter One

Offices of Brampton Hamilton, LLP on Wall Street, Downtown New York, New York, Wednesday early afternoon, November 18, 2015

Jinxx looked up from her computer screen into the smiling face of her boss, Jim Hamilton. “How are you coming with the responses to the interrogatories on the Gulf Oil Case?”

“They’re coming along. I have some research to do on the specifics of the accident.”

“Oh, before I forget, Trish said to invite you to dinner on Friday night if you don’t have any other plans.”

“Thanks. I’d love to come over. I haven’t seen the kids in ages.”

“Ha. Nothing changes there. Still monsters, but they love to see Auntie Jinxx.”

Before she left work that day she opened an instant message. Hi, honey. How was your day? I wanted to let you know that I miss you. Barnett.

Jinxx smiled. He was just so sweet.

The Hamilton apartment, on Park Avenue, New York, New York, Friday evening, November 20, 2015

Jinxx and Trish were sitting at the black granite kitchen island sipping glasses of chilled white wine while they watched Jim grilling steaks on the gas grill imbedded in the island top.

Jinxx grinned. “I love to watch a man work.”

“Watch it, mighty mouth. I can get even any time I want to.”

Trish said, “Don’t look at me. I’m not ge
tting between you two.” She got a cagey look on her face. “So what’s up with the Los Angeles Lothario? Are you still in contact with him?”

“Oh, for heaven’s sake, Trish. It’s really no big deal. So I have a pen pal in L.A. We’re not breaking any laws.”

“Not yet. I just have to wonder why a guy who looks like that would be interested in a long-distance relationship. There are millions of available women in California. That’s all.”

“Oh, so you’re saying no one would travel for a woman like me?”

“Don’t be stupid. Of course I’m not saying that. You’re a great catch for any man…but what with your crazy books and all, I’m just concerned. He might get some weird ideas or something.”

“So now I’m a fish? And a weird one at that.”

“I’m going to smack you any minute now. I’m just concerned about what his agenda may be. That’s all.”

“I don’t think he has an agenda. We just enjoy each other’s virtual company. He’s cute, fun, sexy as hell, and romantic. He makes me feel good. He makes me feel alive. What is wrong with that?”

“Nothing. Nothing at all.” But Jinxx could still see the worry in her eyes.

Just then, the youngest Hamilton boy, Peter, age eight, came into the kitchen. “Hi, Auntie Jinxx. Wanna come and see my Pokemon collection?”
